Could you tell us a little about yourself?
First, I am in love with my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! Second, my name is Jason Stancil and I am from Anniston, Alabama. I have been married to my high school sweetheart, Mandi Stancil for five years. We have one son, William Matthew Stancil. He is our pride and joy. Will was born 7 weeks early on October 29, 2006 and only weighed 3lbs. We call him God’s Mighty Warrior because now at 9 months he weighs about 20lbs and eats like a horse.

As I told you before I am in love with Christ. He has blessed me abundantly and he hasn’t stopped yet! I am a member of Munford Baptist Church where I am a Sr. High Boys Sunday School Teacher, Youth Leader, Choir Member, and a God fearing, born again, Drummer in a band named Living Water.

How did you find out about Drummerforchrist.com?
I was searching for Christian drummer forums and I typed it in Google and now here I am.

How long have you been playing drums?
I have been playing for 5 months and people tell me it sounds like I have been playing for years. I have always loved the drums and in February of 2007 I bought my first sticks and sat down behind a kit for the first time and God showed me what I should be doing for him!

What do you practice in drums?
I try to practice any new thing I don’t already know. I don’t have a certain technique, I usually just sit behind my kit and have at it.

How do you improve yourself besides practicing?
I study music. If there is a riff, song, intro, or technique I wanna learn, if possible, I will listen to it at least 150-200 times.

How do you keep yourself spiritually fit?
I pray, pray, pray, amd pray somemore! I try to read my bible as much as possible. Anything I can do, read or say to stay grounded I will do it.

Is there any particular drum and cymbal brand you play with?
Yes, I love Ludwig Drums and Zildjian is my cymbal of choice. I also use Remo Heads.

Please explain a little about your drum kit and cymbals (if any)
I have a Ludwig Standard 5 piece with Remo black dot batter on them. I am about to switch to Evans Heads though. As far as cymbals, some of you will think I am crazy but I play with some ZBT and one ZHT and they sound great. I know they are pretty much the bottom of the line but I really like them. I have 14” ZBT Rock Hi-hats, 16” ZBT Rock Crash, and a 20” ZBT Rock Ride which I had to tone down with a little electrical tape on bottom, and a 14” ZHT Fast Crash. I plan on upgrading to Z Customs soon.

What advice would you give to young drummers who is serving or intended to serve in the worship department?
Keep your eye on God! Don’t get caught up in the whole “I am a drummer in a band” thing. Make sure if you are doing it, make sure you are doing it for God.

Lastly, in your own words, how would you encourage more drummers to this website?
More publicity!! Also a magazine would be awesome.
