RUN FOR THE NATION
WHAT IS RUN FOR THE NATION?
Run For the Nation or RunNat for short is a single morning running event, which sees Christians praying as they run throughout selected areas in the city or town where the event is held. These Runners are grouped into Teams of 3s. Each Team is required to cover 5km of a preselected route passing by homes, schools, commercial and government buildings, religious sites and other places of interest. As they run, one will pray and the other two will agree. In order to cover the most ground during the runs it is done relay style using a Prayer Card in place of a baton, with each team of runners covering 5km.
TIME OF RUN
The run starts at 5am and ends at 10am in the morning. This 5-hour period should allow for a distance of 40km coverage. If a town or city requires more than 40km of coverage then the Teams are divided into more than one Area Group with each Area Group covering 40kms. The last team of runners will end at a preselected building (Hall) where all the other Runners who ran before will be gathered and waiting for them.
AFTER THE RUN
After all teams have run, they will gather at a building. This building can be a church, school or community hall.
Everyone then adjourns into the building for a time of corporate prayer. After that the participants will receive a certificate of participation and fellowship over food.
WHO CAN TAKE PART
Anyone who professes Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour can take part in RunNat. Previous running experience is not required. However training for the event is highly recommended for the prayer run to be effective (see Training for RunNat for details).
Run for the Nation 2009 will involve all 14 state capitals in Malaysia which means that the prayer run will be held simultaneously throughout the country. Each state will have a RunNat Committee to register runners and organise the Prayer Run in their respective cities.
